Wednesday’s provide a lot of opportunities for small-group interaction for preschool through senior adults. We have a neighborhood bus ministry that picks up and takes home children each Wednesday. Let us know at the church office if you have an elementary age child or teenager who would like to attend our Wednesday evening activities and needs a ride. And of course we would love for you, their parents to join us as well. Come see what’s going on and join us this Wednesday night.
We have an active Children and Preschool Ministry that starts on Sundays at 9:30am with Sunday School for all ages from Babies to 5th grade. It also includes Children’s Church, VBS, Camps, Trips, and a whole lot more. With our youngest, we provide a comforting environment that ensures the stability they need to feel secure. When they are warm, dry, cuddled and comforted, we assure them of God’s love for them and that Mom or Dad will be back very soon. For our Crawlers and Toddlers, we provide worlds to explore. As their little fingers and feet are getting a workout, we tell them about the world God made. For our older preschoolers, Sunday School is exciting! They build with blocks, paint beautiful rainbows, and go on imaginary nature hikes up the incredible mountains God created. We’ll help the Bible come alive to your preschooler as we explore together. Our goal is to assist you as parents in laying the spiritual foundation for your children, eventually leading them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Knowing that “children are a gift from God” and that He has commanded us to “train them up in the way they should go”, we offer the following ministries in a safe and loving environment:
We have weekly programs that help us to accomplish our mission while still staying true to our core values. On Sunday mornings at 9:30am, all students meet in the Upper Room for a time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study. Join us for donuts as you get to church and are still waking up. Then, you will move to your individual classes where your leaders will open up God’s Word and apply the scriptures to our everyday life. Church will immediately follow Sunday school at 10:45am in the Worship Center. At HBC, our Student Ministries' goal is to reach out to young people and ignite a desire in them to live for Jesus Christ every day of their lives. We have to take up the cross daily…not just on Sundays. I want to take this opportunity to invite you to join us at HBC. There’s always something going on here for students of all ages.
Wednesdays at 6:30pm we meet in the Upper Room at Hillcrest just like the disciples did with Jesus so many years ago.
We would love for you to join us at anytime.
What is Worship?
Worship is a way of gladly reflecting back to God the radiance of His worth. As you come to our Worship gatherings on Sunday mornings, be prepared to enter His presence. Some of the songs may be new to you at first. Listen to the words, letting them minister to your heart as you learn them. Some of the songs will talk about our Lord and His characteristics. Others will speak directly to Him as an expression of prayer and praise. Once you are familiar with the songs, they will become a part of your daily worship to the Lord. Come expecting God to touch your heart.
“Shout for joy to the Lord; worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs; enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise; give thanks to the Lord and praise His name.”
The HBC Celebration Choir is formed by students and adults of all ages committed to ministering to others through music. Weekly rehearsals are scheduled on Sunday afternoons from 5:00 – 6:15 PM where childcare is provided. No previous music experience is required. Come, join us, you will find a spirit of loving acceptance throughout the year.
At Hillcrest Baptist Church, we are blessed with many talented singers and instrumentalists. We believe that our music ministry allows many who possess musical gifts to proclaim God’s message in songs. Most Sundays we feature multiple individuals who share their musical talents during the worship services. Special music includes vocal and instrumental solos, duets, trios, and ensembles. If you desire to be involved in special music please contact Bro. Chris.
We are in the process of building a Praise Team made up of students and adults who have advanced vocal and instrumental abilities that will enhance our existing worship and music ministry. If you are interested in auditioning, contact Bro. Chris.
Audio & Visual Support
If you enjoy serving behind the scenes with the technical aspects, we invite you to come and be a part of our Media Ministry. We offer opportunities of service in audio, video projection, lights, editing, etc. We are willing to train you if you are willing to serve. Please contact Bro. Chris.
Hillcrest Music & Worship Ministry
Jesus said in John 4, that God is seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. We strive to accomplish that by singing songs that have lyrics grounded firmly in the Word of God, and yet have music that is appealing to a wide range of people. With this in mind, Hillcrest Baptist offers worship services which seek to offer a blend of both hymns and contemporary praise and worship songs.
Ephesians 5:19 says to “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV).
Hillcrest Baptist Church's Mission
At Hillcrest, we desire to know Christ and to be His light to all nations and all generations. This means that we want to follow the Lord Jesus Christ’s command to effectively minister to people of all nations, whether they live right here in our community, across the world and anywhere in between.
Southern Baptist Mission Efforts
In 1925, the Southern Baptist Convention established the Cooperative Program. The Cooperative Program – CP Missions – enables all Southern Baptists to work together to support missions efforts world-wide.
Through the International Mission Board, Southern Baptists support 4,946 missionaries in 153 different countries. Your gifts and prayers resulted in 451,000 new believers baptized in 2000 outside of North America.
Southern Baptist’s support of CP Missions allowed the North American Mission Board to send out 5,081 missionaries in 2008 and help start over 1,700 new churches.
The mission to spread the Gospel began with a handful of believers in Jerusalem. Guided by the Holy Spirit, their mission was to take this good news to Judea, Samaria, and even the remotest part of the earth. With the help of the same Spirit, we strive to continue their mission – to take the Gospel to all people everywhere. There is no greater task than to deliver the message that God saves sinners through Jesus. It is our joy to share the Gospel in a variety of ways locally, throughout New Mexico and around the world.
Submit a Prayer Request/Praise Report
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. – James 5:13-18 (NKJV)
It is our pleasure to pray for you.
